Indian industrial estate at dusk after monsoon rain with an orange tarpaulin over stacked cargo

Wire harness connectivity parts, delivered into India.

India has one of the largest wire harness industries in the world and one of the most concentrated. A single supplier holds more than 40 percent of it, which means an allocated connector family propagates through the market unusually fast.

India's harness industry is large, growing and concentrated. Concentration is what turns one shortage into a market-wide one.

We supply connectors, terminals and seals into Indian harness manufacturing at the shortage, allocation and obsolete end of the market, shipping from Sofia with export documentation prepared in-house.

Why India matters to us

Motherson Sumi Wiring India, the joint venture between Samvardhana Motherson International and Sumitomo Wiring Systems, holds more than 40 percent of the Indian wiring harness market on its own. It runs about 23 facilities and employs roughly 40,000 people, with its head office at Noida. Spark Minda and Yazaki India are the other two names that shape the market.

Manufacturing concentrates in the south and the west. Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka lead on cluster density, supported by the assembly ecosystems around Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and Tata Motors. Yazaki is building a 316,000 square foot harness facility at Chengalpattu near Chennai with Horizon Industrial Parks. Northern India, and Noida in particular, functions as the administrative and head-office centre rather than the main production floor.

The market was valued at around 1.8 billion dollars in 2025 and is projected to reach roughly 2.4 billion by 2034. Growth of that shape, on a supplier base that concentrated, has a specific consequence for procurement. When a terminal series or a connector housing goes on allocation, it does not affect one programme in isolation. It reaches a very large share of Indian harness output at the same time, and local substitution options get consumed quickly.

Harness Code is an independent distributor based in Sofia. We work the end of the connectivity market that the franchised channel has already declined: allocated series, connectors quoted at forty weeks, and housings discontinued while the programme that uses them is still running. We are not an authorised or franchised reseller. We manage counterfeit risk through verified sourcing channels, date and lot-code checks, and original packaging where it exists, and we do not issue a certificate of conformance as a guarantee of authenticity.

Logistics from Sofia

No trade agreement to lean on, so the documentation has to be right the first time.

India is outside the European Union and there is no EU free trade agreement in force, so a consignment carries standard export documentation and attracts Indian import duty and IGST on arrival. That makes the paperwork part of the lead time rather than an afterthought, and we prepare it in-house. Air freight into Chennai, Delhi or Mumbai is the realistic route for a shortage part, and we quote the transit honestly rather than optimistically.

FAQ

Common questions on supplying India

01Do you ship to India?

Yes. India is outside the EU, so the consignment moves as a formal export with full customs documentation, which we prepare in-house. Air freight into Chennai, Delhi or Mumbai is normally the right route when a part is holding up production.

02Will I pay import duty?

Yes, in most cases. There is no EU free trade agreement with India in force, so Indian import duty and IGST apply on arrival according to the classification of the goods. We give you the documentation you need to clear them and we are clear that the landed cost is more than the part price.

03Why source from Europe when the harness industry here is this large?

You would not, for a part that is available locally. The requests that reach us are the ones where local and franchised supply has already failed: an allocated series, an end-of-life housing, or a quantity nobody will break a reel for. If the part is easy to get in India, we will tell you that instead of quoting it.

04Can you supply obsolete Western connector families?

Yes. Obsolete and end-of-life connectivity is one of the two things we specialise in, and programmes that outlive their connector's catalogue life are the normal case rather than the exception.

05What information do you need to quote?

The manufacturer and the part number, the quantity, and the destination. If you also tell us the deadline and whether an alternative is acceptable to your engineering team, the answer comes back faster and closer to something you can act on.
